On Sunday, Nov 4 at noon, Boulder students and community members will be
participating in an action outside the Burger King on 28th and Canyon in
solidarity with the Farmworkers of Immokalee, Florida. The action will be
in concert with the Student/Farmworker Alliance's (S/FA) national
"Kingdoom" week of action. Demonstrations will be occuring across the
country from Oct. 27 to Nov.4 at local Burger Kings.

The (in)famous fast food chain is a large purchaser of tomatoes grown in
Immokalee, Florida. Tomato pickers in Immokalee experience sub-poverty
wages, having to harvest two and a half tons of 10 hours of minimum wage.
In extreme cases workers are held against their will in what can only be
called modern day slavery.

Burger King directly contributes to these problems by demanding the
cheapest prices for tomatoes and taking no accountability for labor
conditions connected to its supply chain. The Coalition of Immokalee
Workers (CIW)- an organization of mainly Haitian, Latino, and Mayan Indian
Farmworkers- has been calling on Burger King to take responsibility for
addressing these human rights violations. However Burger King continues
to reject the CIW's demands for fair and just working conditions.

Please join us on Nov. 4th and act in solidarity with the CIW. We will be
meeting at noon at the 28th and Canyon BK to give a letter written by the
CIW to the BK manager, hand out information on BK's exploitative practices
to costumers, and bring the farmworker struggle into the public's view.
Also, please assist us by forwarding this message to as many lists and
people you can. Thank you for your support. Off with the King's head,
