Michael,

Would you be up to posting our news about the upcoming Emerging Futures
Network meet-up and Recent Changes Camp at IndyMedia and then sending me
the URL so I get an idea of what you mean to post to their site? I
couldn’t figure it out from their main page.

Cheers, Julie

Sorry, I wasnt as clear as I could have been.... I'll chalk it up to my
health

The original IndyMedia sites were early or pre-blog era ... and pushed
the boundaries.

A number of the IndyMedia sites are looking to similarly push their
platforms to the next level of utility .... (that was the
next-generation point - next generation for them)

Their organization, is as you mention, very flat ... they are a network,
and that is very intentional. They are already next generaion in that
regard :)

So, now, we have to think what it means to partner with networks ... in
some cases it just means individual actions... I post to the local
indymedia sites when I get a chance ... and I recommend you all do the
same.

Micheal,

I liked their mission statement:

Indymedia is a collective of independent media organizations and
hundreds of journalists offering grassroots, non-corporate coverage.
Indymedia is a democratic media outlet for the creation of radical,
accurate, and passionate tellings of truth.

Can you say more about them being a next generation application for this
platform? I assume you are thinking about a newswire platform, yes?

Summary from recent e-mails:

Michael suggested we look at this link: HYPERLINK

In response to us looking at a link about information centers: HYPERLINK
"http://www.poynter.org/column.asp?id=31&aid=113411"
\nhttp://www.poynter.org/column.asp?id=31&aid=113411 Which is a new
way of turning your newspaper into an information center.

We are looking at how we might develop Pravin's newswire idea – could it
fit with Brandon's new wiki concept for an EFN newswire for/with/by EFN
members.

When following up on information centers this link, we were directed to
talk with Jennifer Carroll at Gannett network: HYPERLINK
