Welcome Katrina to the EFN-Collaboration List,

I understand we have many intersecting friends (Evonne and Steve to name
a few).

And to answer your question about what's up and also for Sally Duros (so
glad you have joined the list). As Sally knows we are growing network
of friends who have been wishing and working to develop a networking
foundation that weaves and interconnects our work in such a manner that
“we” become a global commons strong enough to support local to global
change. To do this we have identified the need for a networking
association where users come together to share connection, reputation,
and identity for uplifting humanity and healing nature.

Our most immediate plans include an integrative launch that would bring
together a group of founding members to co-create network Nodes that
provide the functions we believe our members would want. Functions such
as a:

* “Golden Pages” (directory and sub-directory)

*         Community center (on-line platform)

* An open-sourced secure identity platform (one identity works
throughout the network); a shared marketplace (with alternative
currencies)

*         Member generated news-wire

* Marketing services (to educate members and potential members
about our work)

* IT-FLOW services (to generate, design and maintain our IT
needs as well as designing and evaluating a reputation/currency flow
that rewards participation in meaningful ways)

* Membership care services (from network coaching to
conferencing to a shared data repository)

* Opportunities to participate, build and grow our
individual/collective work, networks and world changing alliances.

Ultimately, the expansion of membership, Nodes and Services will grow
according to what’s needed by the membership. Our aim is to grow a
commons owned and operated by its members (NOT a centralized system).
Our motto is doing together that which we can not do alone. For more

one.

And, PLEASE use this collaboration list to start a subject discussion
around collaborative topics for evolving this work. AND, invite others
to join our e-lists (direct them HYPERLINK

Our next face to face event is Feb 1-4 in Portland.

Connecting Networks for Action: An Integrated Launch

Emerging Futures Network MeetUp - Portland, Oregon - February 1, 2006:
stay on for HYPERLINK "http://www.recentchangescamp.org"RECENT CHANGES
CAMP open space event - Portland Oregon - February 1-4, 2006

The Recent Changes Camp Feb 2-4 is a wonderful event that brings
technology and community together in new ways. EFN will be meeting the
day before on Feb 1 to look at our integrative launch. You are more than
welcome to attend our EFN meet-up. In particular we are seeking people
who have time, energy and/or collaborative components to design and
deliver an integrative launch for EFN to birth an association for people
and organizations to build an evolving infrastructure that fulfills
their visions to uplift humanity and heal nature.

We will be looking at what EFN Nodes need to be in place for such a
launch. A launch is a community of EFN members that fulfills a function
in strengthening our shared connection, reputation and identity.

The Feb 1 meeting (HYPERLINK
"http://www.omidyar.net/group/efn/ws/Portland%20Agenda/"Portland Agenda)
will identity who is championing what? And, what supports & volunteer
efforts are needed for success? We will outline next steps for design
and delivery, including next steps for securing funding.

It would be great to have you join us.

BIG LOVE ~ julie
